@civicEJ11 USAF is the best way to go…where being a Firefighter is your primary job, rather than a bullet catcher 1st and firefighter in your off-duty time.
Deployments-yeah we go where-ever the airplanes go…Sather Air Base in Baghdad Iraq was where I spent my summer of ‘07. Email me if you have more questions.
@civicEJ11 It is truely one of the best ways to get your certifications, CE squadrons do deploy a lot, but it has more to do with your specific duty station, take mine for example, we have a fireman whos Volunteered for 6 deployments and still hasnt been selected to go because DOD fire fighters are an asset that many bases cant lose. but we’d never see combat action if we did deploy, wed sit around on base probably swimming inside of one of the tanker trucks haha
honest question here, i wanna be a firefighter, and military looks like a good way to get experience. does the AF firefighters get deployed to war zones alot? and if they do there just fire fighters right? not on the streets fighting iraqis or afghany’s? please reply to this
i remember Januayry 1990 when the academy was at Chanute AFB Illinois, learned to fight fire and ice. Best training I ever received. 20 years ago and i still fight the dragon.
iw ant to knw how high you have to score on your asvab to become a firefighter in the air force? and if it’s hard to get in message me if you have any info on it thanks
I didn’t have him as instructor.. but now he’s a friend.. he’s from 20 mins away from were im from.. Dont you just love his WVU coffee mug .. gotta love it
No, only first responder. although you’ll find most military firefighters take it upon themselves to get at least their EMTB. Some bases have civilian fire depts. on them that usually require at least EMTB.
